Ever notice how some words just refuse to cooperate? April is one of them. In English, there isn’t a single perfect rhyme for it, which has probably annoyed poets, songwriters, and greeting card writers for ages. People have tried to fake it with close-enough rhymes or by stretching how words sound, but nothing really lands quite right.

Meanwhile, every other month seems to have an easy match, and April just… doesn’t. But maybe that’s kind of fitting. April’s already unpredictable with it being warm and sunny one day, cold and rainy the next, so it makes sense it wouldn’t follow the rules. Honestly, it feels like April just decided it didn’t need a rhyme to stand out, and it gets away with it.

Maybe that’s the point – some things are memorable just by being themselves. Speaking of memorable, what do you look forward to most in April? Spring blooms, a cozy rainy day, or something else?
